what i wore wednesday {the week o' the dress}

wondering what this series is about? read here to find out more… :)

It was the week of the dress...

ahhhh..one for the party:
dress: thrifted, $6 / shoes: Payless, $16 /
leather clutch: thrifted, $3, bracelet: j.crew , gift

two just for the fun of it:
dress: thrifted, new $6 / shoes: thrifted, $5 / belt: $8ish

and three to hang around on an easy Sunday afternoon:

What could be easier than putting on a dress and cute shoes, anyway? :D {don't answer that- pjs don't count! heehee}

In fact, I was so into the dress thing, I fell in love with this $26 dress at Target:

It's seriously cute. And soft. And the beading is sooo pretty.

I brought it home to try on and the hubs kind of didn't love it. He's not too in love about the straight hang of the dress- he said it looked a little like a potato sack. :(

So, I'm debating now whether I should keep it or not... I'm thinking it would grow on him, and it would be a perfect vacation/ traveling/ beach dress...hmmmm.

It's a big risk to keep it, since I rarely pay $26 for a dress. Especially a Target one. But it is cute. And he does love the other maxi dress I have... which I wore this week too... ;)

What do you do when your husband is on the fence about an outfit you love?

{okay, maybe more like the other side of the fence! ha!}

linking up at the pleated poppy for her what i wore wednesday!

  1. I would take it back since the hubster doesn't like it. My hubby hates those kinds of dresses even though I love them, so I just don't buy them! It is a cute dress though!

  2. I have tried on several maxi dresses and even though I am tall I agree with they hubby, they feel like I have a potato sack on although I have seen them on others and LOVE THEM. So I keep trying thinking perhaps I haven't found the right one yet.

  3. Very cute dresses! Love the turqousie one! My husband sometimes doesn't love what I buy so it really depends on cost. If it is thrifted and reasonable then I will buy in hope that he will like it one day. I typically wont spend too much if he doesnt like it. :)

  4. I love the purple dress with that amazing neckline! I agree, dresses are by far the easiest and most flattering way to dress, minus the whole shaving your legs bit, which I do often ;) I love the maxi dress. Wear it on a date night/vacation and attach a fabulous memory, that way whenever the hubby sees the dress he thinks of that memory? Seems like it would be worth a shot because that dress is too wonderful to go back!

  6. My hubby has good taste in clothes so when he says no, I have to go along with it. Nice to meet you! You look beautiful in all the dresses. :-)

  7. I've been debating that same dress from Target myself...love it on the hanger!! Why don't you add some type of belt to it on top of the elastic empire waist seam to add some definition? Maybe that would help bring your husband around? :) Love the other dresses, too...the green and purple especially are lovely with your hair.

  8. I love your blog and you wear the cutest outfits! I recently bought that second dress (the bright blueish-purpleish one) at Target. They also had it in a bright coral color, which I loved, but the husband liked this one better. After seeing it on you, I'm certain I made the right choice. :)

  11. I say it depends on how much you love it....if I really love something I will keep it. If I'm not sure I take it back and spend the $26 on something else:o) Love your blog...found you through The Pleated Poppy

  12. Love all the dresses, they're so cute on you! :) I have 4 kids & rarely wear dresses, I find them less practical than shorts, jeans, etc... I do have a couple dresses but I don't find them modest enough for my liking, so need to find a way to wear them & be comfortable in them as well. :)

    As for the target dress, what if you wrap that brown belt around it?

  13. First of all, you have amazing, gorgeous hair! So lovely. I love the first look - I have those shoes - love them with a solid color dress. ;)

  14. My hubby readily admits that he doesn't know "a thing" about fashion so if I like it and feel good in it, I keep it! But this is for stuff that he admits he "doesn't really like but what do I know I'm a guy" sort of stuff. If he absolutely *hated* it I wouldn't keep it. There's only two things he's ever hated and I didn't buy them.

  18. I would say take his thoughts into consideration. Even though you would be the one wearing it, he is ultimately the one whose gonna be looking at you in it! On top of all that, if you don't normally spend that much, I would definitely take it back-i guarantee it will be on clearance in the next couple of weeks (if you can wait that long)!

    Sidenote: Your hair is AH-MAY-ZING!!!
