{what i wore this week} accessories: before and after

wondering what this series is about? read here to find out more… :)

I'm so thankful for this week... Rob and I sat at McDonald's on Saturday and just talked about how crazy blessed we are. I have no idea why God allowed us live where we do, why we are able to pay $20 to eat at McDonald's as a special treat for our kiddos, or how we even have food here in this country at all.

I can't believe that we've been given this life to enjoy. It's such an amazing gift. Ahhh. I don't want to take it for granted. Life is so crazy!

I love that I get to write over at RooMag- and for this month's article I had a ton of fun doing a little experiment. :) I have a few accessories that I wear almost all the time, and I thought it would be fun to do a little accessorizing before and after shot:

here's the before:

your basic {thrifted} skinny jeans, tee, and riding boots...not really so bad, I think! It'll do. :D

Here's the after:

Almost all of my "accessories" were items I wear nearly every day, but I think they really made the outfit a lot more fun! :D And most of them were either on sale or birthday gifts. :D

You can read more about what I added over at RooMag! :D

What are your everyday accessories? And does how blessed we are seem incredible to you too? :D

I love the accessories!!! :) I have recently discovered Bead for Life jewelry - are you familiar with it? It's an organization that sells jewelry made by Ugandan women and then proceeds go to help eradicate poverty there. The bracelets are my fave - I bought five in different colors and wear them (all together) almost every day. They go with EVERYTHING!! Love them so much and love the cause they stand for!

Very Cute! I am a big scarf person as well! I always feel like its worth the "investment" because it spices up my v-neck, jeans and casual blazer look. It is so easy to make each outfit look new with so many different scarves! Thanks for the post. - Alexandra @ www.simplyalexandramyfavoritethings.blogspot.com

I know, right? that's what we were talking about at McD's- any one of those parents would have done anything in the world to be there with their babies that morning. Oh, it hurts. And it puts so much in perspective.

Love the scarf! So fun to see how you accessorized a basic outfit. :) And yes...it amazes me on a daily basis how blessed we are, and after Friday has really humbled me.

Great post! And yes, accessories totally make any outfit better.

And yes, we are so blessed. Especially this week I feel so blessed to have my precious little boy. Even though life is pretty tough right now (my hubby has been unemployed/underemployed for over a year now), we have each other and our little man is healthy and happy and I can hold him in my arms. I thank God everyday for the gift of my son and even more for the precious gift of His.

I love this before and after! Accessories are my best friend, as I am a jean-wearing woman. I really love the scarf! You are right, Mandy, we are blessed to live as we do. Now, we have to get others to realize their blessings and stop grumbling over their struggles. Without struggles, there would be no growth and thankfulness. Plus, when we struggle through situations, we are able to understand others and help them through their circumstances. I praise HIM daily, for HIS wonderful gifts!! ~Cynthia

Amen, girlie!! trials are blessings, that's for sure! the more struggles you go through, the more mercy you have on others in the same position {with Jesus in your life, anyway!}. I love your thoughts!

Yes, I feel so incredibly blessed on a daily basis - even things like reading blogs in the quiet of the morning over a cup of coffee - being able to pack lunches for my kids and decide between multiple foods to serve them for breakfast. Christmas lights, activities, good schools, warm clothes and beds....so very thankful for blessings too numerous to count!
