10,000 years and then forever more

Oh, I had plans for today's post, but for some reason, I couldn't bring myself to post about anything else until I shared this song with you. It's one of the most popular Christian songs on the radio, but I can't get enough of it.

It's truly a mercy that I have zero singing ability and could never be a worship leader, because if I were one, they would have to kick me out for ugly crying in front of everyone all the time. Especially if I sang this. I was listening to this song as I was making dinner last night trying to hide the red face and big fat tears with my hair. I just seriously can't take it.

My soul longs for God as soon as I hear the intro.  I wish I could tell you with great words what it feels like, but it all just sounds really crazy. :)

As soon as I hear it, my chest burns with love for God, and I long for Heaven and I long to see Jesus, with every fiber of my being. I don't really even understand it- my heart belongs to someone I've never seen before, and my soul aches from it's very core to be with Him. It feels like my soul just isn't complete here, and I know how I will be made fully whole on that day.

Oh, how I long for that day!!! I can only imagine:

And on that day when my strength is failing
The end draws near and my time has come
Still my soul will sing your praise unending
10,000 years and then forever more

Forever, singing His praise, fully and completely satisfied in Him. I so can't wait for it. :)

I keep picturing that day- me, running to Him and falling at His feet, my heart full of joy, and finally fully understanding the salvation He's given me. Oh, I love Him. I can only imagine what it will be like to really see Him. To have finished the race. I won't be able to keep it together, I'm sure, but luckily I have a feeling He won't mind the ugly tears. :)

What song brings you to worship like no other? I would love to listen to it. {Please share- I don't mind crying! haha! ;)}

I love this song too Mandy. We just lost my husband's grandmother, one of the sweetest woman of faith that you ever could meet. I know that when her time came that she was so ready to meet Jesus, but Oh how we miss her! She went to heaven with no regrets and no talents unused, if I could only be a fraction of who she was I would call myself blessed!!

Already There by Casting Crowns gets me. I am on the worship team and I cry half the time. I can't even make an announcement at church because I get so emotional. So glad music can be such a comfort and can form a bridge of understanding.

So true! Music speaks to our hearts in such a unique way- I think His Spirit seems to be so in them- our hearts can't take it. :) {and I'm glad to know I'm not the only crier! thank you for sharing! :D }

A couple of other faves: "His Glory Appears" and "Soon and very Soon", both by Brooke Fraser for Hillsong.... Also loving "Still you know me" by Steffany Frizzell for Bethel.... And this one is not technically a worship song, but it totally stirs me: "The Revelator" by Josh Garrels....
Happy listening!! (And crying;)

Love this song. I love so many! I especially love the old hymns - O Victory in Jesus!, The Old Rugged Cross, Come Thou Fount, Blessed Assurance...so many more. Right now in our house, the new Chris Tomlin album is on a lot. It's so good! Especially Crown Him. And Jesus, Son of God.

This is one of my favorites. I actually have it on my long run playlist on my MP3 player. I also love Holy Wedding Day by The City Harmonic and Whom Shall I Fear by Chris Tomlin. Thanks for sharing!

Yup, me too! This one gets me everytime... also, Christy Nockels - "Waiting Here for You" the live verson from Passion 2011. You can watch the live version on YouTube. We were in the middle of finalizing an adoption in 2011 right when the live CD came out, The adoption was tumultuous and it wasn't easy - this song spoke to me soooo much. I still crank it up in the car and the house and praise!!!

by the way, I'm SUCH a crier too. Joy and thankfulness just overwhelm me!

Thank you for sharing this song! I didn't know what it was until I heard the first few chords. Then I started singing it in my head. You put it beautifully with, "My soul longs for God as soon as I hear the intro". ME TOO! But, I had no idea what that feeling was until you put it into words for me. Thank you!

My husband auditioned for the worship team at our church with that song this morning. I love Matt Redman's ability to listen to God. For me the chorus is a time for my mind to take captive it's thoughts and command my soul to line up with my beliefs. Not something I do all the time.

"Where I Belong" by Building 429. "All I know is I'm not home yet; This is not where I belong; Take this world and give me JESUS; This is not where I belong." Makes me long to be home - and when things get rough - gives me comfort knowing that I'm NOT home yet. The best is yet to come. Praise Jesus!

There are two hymns that get me. Every. Time. "I Heard The Voice of Jesus Say" and "Be Thou My Vision"... especially "Be Thou...". Whenever we sing it in church my husband looks over at me and grins because he KNOWS I'll tear up! Sigh, but what can you do? Certain songs just reach right down into your heart and soul!

I have been a longtime reader of your blog, but this is the first time I've dared to comment. I just want you to know that your complete and total faith in God has helped me exponentially as I find my way back to Jesus's arms.

I am so in love with that Matt Redman song and I am in near tears every time I hear it!

My current favorites: Hurt & The Healer by MercyMe...oh my word, it just makes me want to drop to my knees and worship.

Beautiful, Beautiful, I'm Letting Go, Angel By Your Side...truly any song by Francesca Battastelli is amazing, but Beautiful, Beautiful just touches my soul in so many ways.

We Are by Kari Jobe is amazing.

Breathe by Rebecca St. James...oh I can't even describe how I feel when this song plays.

Redeemed by Big Daddy Weave is so inspiring.

Losing by Tenth Avenue North I swear is played on the Sound of Life radio station I listen to whenever I feel like the world is just too much to bear.

Need You Now {How Many Times} by Plumb will bring you to your knees...such an amazing singer and that song just opens my heart.

I love You Are by Colton Dixon.

Slip On My by Finding Favour makes me sniffle so hard.

When Mercy Found Me by the Rhett Walker Band...so uplifting!

Blessings & What A Savior by Laura Story, All This Time by Brit Nicole, and Free & Yours Forever...LOVE THEM.

I think Not Where I Belong by Building 429 will be the song playing as we all rise to Heaven. So love that song.

Yikes, I kind of rambled, but these are my current favorites and just LOVE music so much. Again, thank you so much for sharing your love for the Lord - you have inspired me to be a better daughter for our Father. God Bless You and your family!

Listening to HWD now! I've never heard it before!! I really like it!! I had to share this comment I spotted on the youtube link for it! wow!!!

Listening to this songs is so powerful... I'm going in the United States Marine Corps and i ship out 20130722 and up till now my faith with God has completely just gone away, and listening to this song.... shows me how much God loves me, and how holy He is, and how undeserving i am. Up till now my main goal was to be the best soldier for America, now my goal is to be a soldier of Christ, and fight for his people and for Americas freedom to be able to believe what we want to believe.

Mandy said...

oh, and do the memories flood back? That happens so often with me- what a great memory of God's goodness!!

Hi there!

I"m a new blog reader and I'm really enjoying your thoughts! I found your blog through Roo and love that you're a "full-service" blogger...What I'm Wearing, How I'm Eating, What God's Teaching Me, Here's what I'm doing around my home. I'm an adoptive mama, so if you could just adopt, you'd have all my blogging interests covered! :o) .....I laughed out loud when I found your post on painting the sofa...You are so a girl after my own heart...I'm older than you and tried it about 25 years ago with fabric dye....Let's just say "Not a good idea"....I'm glad you found the right way to do it, and I'm keeping that post in mind....The basement sofa is getting iffy!.....

So, what really brought me out of lurkdom is this post! I just received a Kindle for Christmas and I've had so much fun putting my favorite worship music on it. "10,000 Reasons" was song #2 that I purchased. Here are my fav.'s....

1.At the Cross-and the whole "Mighty to Save" Hillsongs album
2. He's Always Been Faithful-Sara Groves
3.Hungry-Kathryn Scott
4.Your Great Name-Natalie Grant
5.Mighty Is the Power of the Cross-Chris Tomlin
6. Eagles Wings-Hillsongs

I also love a few that were mentioned...."How He Loves", "Give Me Jesus". I've enjoyed reading others suggestions and can't wait to check them out! Thanks for a great post!

Mandy, that song is such a wonderful blessing! My children have been playing and singing it as well, so wonderful! I know exactly what you mean by this! The only problem is that I do sing on praise team and I had an ugly crying moment right in the middle of worship! We were singing "It Is Well" and I KNEW when he told us what we were singing for response that I was going to cry but I told myself I could do it. I was wrong. Halfway through I started crying and I CAN'T sing when I cry and I was trying to hide it (with my hair too!) which made it look like I was having convulsions on stage. The worship leader told me to sit down:) BUT the song that got me the other day when I was driving to town was Third Day's "Thief" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qj9hwXsaGYg

Oh Mandy, thank you for sharing! I love this song also...I am such an emotional person anyway, and I get so upset with myself while I'm trying to sing praises to my Lord and I can't even get through it from getting choked on the lump in my throat!! Love 10,000 Reasons.
One of my absolute favorites that stirs me EVERY single time, is "The Power of the Cross" by Keith & Kristyn Getty - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubGCISQQ7Zo
and one that truly convicts me and challenges me to be more Christlike in this life here on earth is "Jesus, Friend of Sinners" by Casting Crowns - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BY6VAy9y_iQ

I have always loved the group Plumb and am over the moon for their new song "Need you Now." Whenever the song comes on the radio I crank it up and can't help but cry through the whole thing (kinda makes driving a little difficult).

I hope you find it as comforting as I do.. and maybe this song can help ease some of the pain you're going through right now. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers!

Oh how I can relate to this post! every part! I sometimes wish i was a worship leader but would totally be the ugly crier losing it on stage. This song first meant a lot to me after a dear friend found comfort from it after the death of her one year old this past July.

A song that we have been singing at church lately that gets me crying and longing for Jesus is "Great I Am". I feel like we will be singing the chorus in heaven one day!
