a dozen things that make me smile

Here are a few things that made me smile this morning:

1. Reading your comments on this post from this weekend, hearing your stories and seeing you guys have an awesome love for each other and a desire to help each other in comment threads. I so love every one of you. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

2. Waking up to a clean kitchen. Oh, it feels good! :D

3. Last week's flowers from the hubs, just because {I was probably grumpy}, and a cake stand left out from our big gender reveal. :)

4. Almost instant Starbucks coffee. And never having to see coffee grounds again.

5. Happy dishes we can actually use!

6. Finding the results of having your 3-year-old clean off the plates from the table last night. She was being so helpful I didn't even think to see what she was doing! I really couldn't stop laughing when I found this in the bathroom later:

7. Baby boy clothes. And cheery baby fabric, hopefully to be made into something useful soon. :)

8. Lots of paint. Exterior house paint. It's happening!! Whoop!

9. My current craving: citrus. I can't get enough grapefruit. I have a feeling it will change when watermelon season comes along though. ;)

10. Star Wars legos that are now the DIY decor of choice. :)

11. Pink Easter hats. I'm going to enjoy this girl phase to the fullest while it lasts. :)

12. Boys that sit down and do their work on their own. {okay, okay, that makes me grin like crazy. :)}

What makes you smile today? :)

Do you have "DIY" lego decor all over your house too? :D

Or do you have a favorite set of dishes you love to use?

I love the Mikasa French Countryside set I got for my birthday a few years ago. We scored the entire set on Craigslist for $50! {Serving bowls, gravy boat, cream and sugar too!} I was so excited.

And those $5 anthro bowls are my favorite too. :D

Have you tried grapefruit in the oven? It's supposed to bring out all of the delicious sugar!! Mmmmmmm!! I'm pretty sure I saw the recipe on Pinterest!

I loved this post! Those dishes are my favorite. I have four of the smaller ones but I believe they are a different brand? I'm always looking out for them! :)
I enjoyed the dinner in your bathroom sink, it sometimes feels like one surprise after another as a mom!

I too have Lego decor and I LOVE it! I used to worry because my son (4) would not sit still to color, draw, paint or do any kind of craft, but then I learned that if I gave him some Lego he'd create the most wonderful things.
Getting to see a little bit of his imagination everyday is great and I love the reminder that all kids are so unique and have such different strengths. I think it's such a blessing that, as the mom, I get to see those special things about my kids as the grow. :)

Your dishes are so cute! I have a mismatched set that I've pieced together from Goodwill over the years. I started that collection in college, when I was too broke to buy new dishes. I like them for now, while I have a young one in the house. When he's older I'll buy a more "grown up" matching set!

It is so nice to wake up to a clean kitchen. I sometimes don't want to put the work into it the night before but it is so worth it when I wake up and see that shiny sink and un-cluttered counters. It starts my day off right because I'm not behind before I've started!

No Lego decor but I do have super hero's all over thanks to my 2.5 yr old following after his dad's footsteps when it comes to all things comic book related.

Today my smiles are coming from my baby girl exploring the house and my son being eager to potty train!

It really does!! and they keep you guessing!! hahah!
It's fun when you find matching dishes, isn't it? I was amazed I found what I did on craigslist! :D

It's so fun to be a mama, isn't it? I have one main lego lover and the other loves music- they are all so different, and it always surprises me! :)

Definitely a good idea! We have a plastic set for the kiddos to use on a daily basis. The Mikasa is pretty tough, but they've taken out one or two unloading the dishwasher. :) I was glad they were so cheap! :D

We don't always clean up the night before, but it makes such a difference in how I feel about the day ahead! I know exactly what you mean! :D

Happy Monday! Seeing your beautiful kitchen made me smile! I picked up a barred owl off the road this morning and took him to the wildlife rehab. I just got a call that he's doing well, so far so good. That made me smile.
The quirkly little grins on the faces of my boys in the pic I took with my phone this morning has made me smile alot today.
Our boys have pewter toy soldiers their grandfather made and sent them at Christmas. They are everywhere, but they make me smile (as long as I'm not stepping on them) because their grandfather passed away on January 5th and they treasure those soldiers because that's the last thing he gave them.

They are a mid-sized rolling cart with several hanging bins we bought at Sam's a while back. :D I can't seem to find the link but it was on sale several months ago. :D

Aww you're so sweet to rescue that owl!! And how special those toy soldiers must be- oh, how awesome that he gave them such a lovely gift. I'm so sorry to hear he passed away! :(

Yes I love waking up to a clean kitchen! I use to wait till the morning to clean up.after dinner and I would get so overwhelmed. It's amazing how it helps you start the day with clean surroundings:) and yes we also have lego decor, but I am usually tripping over it and hearing screams of disappointment when it has been left out for.little brother to destroy. But it I usually put back together in no time:) thanks for sharing!!

You have a beautiful kitchen! My girls had ours cleaned after our small group last night. Wonderful! I am still counting my "gifts" I am thankful for that I learned from Ann Voskamp. In the 2000's now! They are on different posts throughout my blog. I miss lots of days, but you reminded me to keep counting and always, always be thankful, and yes, for all those little things as well. My son is 17 and graduating our home school this year but he still has some legos out, as well as my 20 yr old daughter! So fun. I am also so thankful for my new "Ever Grateful" dishes I've been trying to collect from Dayspring. Such reminders of being grateful for ALL things.

Congratulations and blessings for this new little one you are carrying!

Always Experiencing Him,
Jody
