this week's GW finds: banana republic, fisher price, + osh kosh

I made a little GW {Goodwill} run yesterday, and wasn't too disappointed. :) I didn't have the greatest finds ever, but I liked what I came home with! :)

Here's what I found:

This cute pear potholder for $1.99- I thought it should have really been .99 but the pears sold me. :)
And a few sweet little baby clothes:
jacket- brand new w/tags Osh Kosh for $3.97, shorts and Carter's jumper .99 each}
I found a couple of tops and a dress to show you later {folded pics just won't do!}, but I was more excited about these Banana Republic sandals for $3.99! I go through a pair of sandals nearly every year... I'm hard on shoes because I wear the same ones all the time. :)

important thrifting tip: don't be afraid to try on shoes that aren't your size. You never know- they might just fit! {well, except for that Frye sandal in size 5 I tried on one time... 4 sizes may be going too far...}

And then for one more dollar than the shoes {GW pricing logic is a mystery to me}, I scored this precious baby bouncer for our little one!

$4.99? I love you again, GW.
I also bought the kids a few hardback books- Little House on the Prairie, Disney books, and Nancy Drew for .79 each. I like books at GW prices so much more than Amazon! :)

It wasn't too shabby for one run, eh? :) I think it's probably more than I've found in the last 5 visits to our local store combined. So it was a good day! :D

Have you scored any great thrifting finds recently? :)

How are the prices at your GW?
Ours seem to keep going up and up.

Do you have brand new Target surplus items at your thrift store?
We do- and usually they're cheaper than the last Target clearance price they went for, though sometimes the mark them up more than Target did, which always makes me laugh! Usually the manager will come down if that's the case though. :)

Books are my Favorite thing to buy at the GW. I once went to the GW in Arlington TX and found the complete series of American Girls books ALL of the original girls and bought them all for under $10. Best buy EVER!!!!

Their pricing is always a mystery to me too!!! I live in a college town and sometimes certain things are priced almost as high as you can buy brand new...case in point a pair of black boots...for 24.99??? Really? No thank you. But I have found some AMAZING things too that are practically brand new for .99 so go figrue! LOL

I've never commented before, but I love your blog! And I LOVE GW! My most recent and most impressive purchase was a Bumbleride Flyer stroller, in great condition, for $25. It has definitely been my best find to date. Our local children's consignment store also has amazing deals- at the end of each season everything is $1. It requires buying a season ahead, but you can't beat the price, especially with a 50% groupon, which they frequently have. We are expecting our 3rd in June and reading about your big family makes me excited for our growing one. :) Congrats to you and your family!

My latest favorite GW find was from a quick stop last week. I found two pairs of Banana Republic chinos in excellent condition for my husband. They $10 each but they retail for $60 so I know I got a good deal!

Great finds! I thrift 2-3 times a week so I find a lot of gems. My favorite purchase was a vintage Ralph Lauren jacket that I purchased for less than $10 and sold for $500! Crazy!

I purchase a vintage blazer for $2 and found a little butterfly pin attached to the label. The pin turned out to be real gold and I sold it for $70! Love those kinds of deals.

I buy almost all my clothing at GW. I got a pair of AE jeans in my size & cut for $4.99 a few months ago. Score!

Our GW gets lots of Target overstocks. They kind of clutter up the regular racks - I wish they would separate them.

Cute finds! I don't usually find alot at the GW near where I live but I found one near work I didn't know about before so I'm excited to check that one out!

You made me laugh about the Frye sandals.. I saw a pair of Tory Burch heels at GW that were about 5 sizes too small. Of course ;)

My favorite thrift find (salvation army not GW) is a pair of coach shoes for $12.99. Classic leather loafers. I spent $5 to get them stretched a bit and they fit like a glove now.

me too! :D I couldn't tell if it was a Target potholder or vintage, but I loved it either way!

Mandy said...

you're so right! You never know what you'll find, only all year long! :D

Mandy said...

That's a steal, girlie! You could probably keep them then resell them when you're done and still make a ton of profit! :D way to go!

Mandy said...

Isn't that the weirdest thing? That happens here all the time too! Like one pair of fake jeans in the case- $24.99, and the real ones will be on the rack for $7! :D It's so crazy! :P

I have always enjoyed thrift stores, but only recently did I start paying real attention to clothes. Big mistake! On a GW stop a couple of weeks ago I picked up a Coach purse, a dress from Ann Taylor Loft, a Calvin Klein sundress, and a North face fleece for $20.

I am really loving your blog and I LOVE these posts. I have never shopped at thrift stores for myself. I have always went with other people. Your posts along with others gives me a different eye for things and a different perspective and I love it. Its crazy how you can clean something up a little, spray paint it and it look like yo bought it for $50 at Target. I am beyond ready for my first trip to GW. Hopefully I have good finds like everyone else :)

Anyone know of anymore Thrifty blogs out there I can check out for more ideas and information? I would greatly appreciate it! ;)

That is so awesome Mandy!!! I love, love thrift store shopping. GW, Savers, Salvation Army and yard selling. The best thing I've found so far at Savers was a St Johns Bay Mustard Yellow Pea Coat for $11. I absolutely love it for fall and winter. I haven't been in a couple weeks. But me and a friend are planning to go this week. I'm really excited to find some treasures and of course fellowship time.

S loving these posts...
Blessings,
Adrienne

I like your finds! I'm heading over to my Goodwill, tomorrow! My son needs a Hawaiian shirt for his job. We can't find them at Target, Walmart.... I hope they will have one! Blessings to you and yours!

I like our Goodwill but the pricing is really messed up! The best example is that Men's adult tee shirts are $1.49 but any other tee shirts (women's and children's) are $3.49. I cannot stand that! Why is a child's tee shirt $2 more than a Men's tee shirt? They count women's tee shirts as "blouses" at $3.69 and all pieces of children's clothing is a set price of $3.49 each. I have even asked the employees and they do not know either! Drives me crazy! But overall I do like shopping at Goodwill :-)

I like thrift stores too, but yard sales are my favorite. I get way better deals on clothes and home decor, but I still visit the thrift stores about twice a month!
I think it's cute you share your finds. I enjoy finding great deals and saving my family money. My kids are being effected by it and always look for clearance priced foods at the stores. They can spot those red stickers a mile away;0)
Thanks for sharing!

i luv goodwill for books - my last haul on books was $18.64 for $99.53 worth of books. my guy goes thru them like water. he jus devours them he'll read 3-4 a night plus a bedtime book he has me read to him.
on pricing the kids shorts you have for .99 are 1.99. what i never get is how they decide what are the $1.99 t's for boys and the $3.99 shirts. to me a shirt is anything with a collar (POLO, etc), if it has no collar it's a T-shirt. even the manager at ours says it's really what ever the person tagging them says. what really bothers me is that our GW doesn't put a price tag on things they just have signs. but they put those plastic tags on them and right thru the material making a huge hole!! i'm like you just ruined the shirt, and the tags have no use what so ever???
that's a nice bouncer!! maybe i can talk my sweetie into watching little sweetie so i can have an interuption free GW trip tomorrow???
