the abortionist on trial you've never heard of

warning: this is a graphic post, and very hard for me to write and share as I'm 24 weeks pregnant with my own tiny baby. But it's so important for us to know and pray. Ohhhh.

actual picture from the DA's grand jury report against Gosnell
I didn't even know this until yesterday- but there is a huge abortion trial going on right now and most of the national media is refusing to cover it.

Kermit Gosnell is on trial, charged with 8 counts of murder and infanticide, and numerous witnesses have testified of the most atrocious circumstances in his abortion clinic- dozens and dozens of jars with baby parts in storage, hundreds of babies being "beheaded" with scissors after being born alive, 15-year-olds administering anesthesia, forced abortions, blood-stained equipment, and the list goes on. It's unreal, and it happened here in the US thousands of times.

The news doesn't want to cover this trial because it shows what abortion really is- the murder of innocent babies in it's ugliest form. But the general public needs to know this information- to see what they are really doing by voting for abortion.

While this man has seemingly taken it to the worst and most inhumane degree, the act of abortion- the sacrificing of unborn infants- alone is heinous, even in the most sanitary of conditions. The details of every abortion no one wants to see or hear are being well hidden by the media to protect this awful "freedom" we have.

Oh, friends, I don't understand God's mercy and patience with us here {and my sin is no less sin in His sight}- I really don't, except that every day we all have been given a chance to repent and know Him. Our God holds the power to change the hearts of those going in for abortions, and if we all cry out to Him, maybe He will hear our cry for change, and for the lives of these innocent babies. Please, please pray. We need Him.

My heart is breaking. I cannot hold back the tears. Oh how I pray for our country and that we would turn to God. Your words are right on though, all abortion is heinous. We are all sinners in need of the same loving Savior! I am 38 weeks pregnant with our 5th. This was extremely hard for me to see and read, but I/we need to be aware and be in prayer even more.

Thank you for sharing this, Mandy. I plan to write a post about it next week. If the corrupt media refuses to cover this, then it's up to us to spread the word and show the world what abortion really is. I pray for reformation for our country and the world.

Thanks for sharing this and the graphic pic to promote awareness. Abortion isn't a medical procedure removing some tissue from the body, it is killing a baby. I hope this trial opens people's eyes to the reality of what is going on out there in abortion clinics. This isn't a rare case; this is reality.

I'm right behind you at 23 weeks. My insides hurt when I first read this story a few days ago. I just can't wrap my head around it. This is the purest form of evil in my eyes. The only hope I have regarding this situation is that those littles are in the hands of Jesus now. I pray this man finds salvation, because without the cleansing blood of Jesus-he has to face the wrath of the Almighty for such hate crimes.

So so sad... I just read this morning where our President has allowed 30 million dollars to further abortion. I don't understand this hideous law, which allows murder of our most innocent citizens....these sweet babies..day after day being tortured and murdered. Pray..pray..pray. America will pay!

Oh Mandy! I am amazed you posted this today. We live in suburban Philly and I was railing to my husband this morning about how this is NOT making national news. Though we are seeing more about it locally, it's still only mentioned briefly.
It's been said that it's left-wing media bias, and that probably does account for much of the silence, but it's my honest opinion that the news outlets know that the American people do not WANT to be informed about this.
They will stay glued to their tvs for days mourning children shot in a school, then "like" memorial pages and demand legislation but I'm pretty sure details about THIS kind of massacre would be met with silent discomfort and changing the channel.
I've spoken with too many Christians who say they're "pro life" but don't think abortion should be illegal because they "understand" women who choose it and they seem to speak for the majority of self-identifying Christians in the US.
I myself, in high school, was of that mindset. Praise God - He lifted the scales from my eyes and I was horrified, HOW could I ever have thought that way? How can you know that God knits together each little one in the womb and still believe that abortion is anything less than murder? If all the justifications people make for abortion were true then should it be okay for an overwhelmed mother to kill her infant or toddler when she realizes she "can't afford" them or "can't handle" them or the father isn't going to support them?
Life is so devalued, the deliberate blindness of our culture breaks my heart. :(
Thank you for calling it out. <3

Thank you so much for sharing about this trial, and for speaking the truth about it. The things that are happening in our country are appalling, horrifying and so scary. Why won't people wake up? Knowing that things like this are happening every day takes the fun out of every day things and makes me want to stand on the side of the road with a sign telling people about what's happening right now.

Thank you for sharing this.

I've posted it on my facebook and watched the video on one of the articles you had.

God must really be putting this on my heart because everywhere I turn recently I am hearing or reading an article about botched abortions. It just makes me cry my eyes out.

thanks for letting me know- I put the wrong url, and I fixed it. Thank you!

I read an article by a journalist on the daily beast that testified to what you say- they don't want to talk about it because it's too much to take, and it makes you think outside your comfort zone. :( I was telling my hubs the same thing- that it's only a matter of time/duration- why is it okay 30 seconds earlier but not outside the womb, or 1 year later? How can this be? Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I just posted on the subject as well: http://beautifulfamilyaffairs.blogspot.com/2013/04/polluted-by-world.html

My heart hurts and cries out for these babies. It makes me sick to think of what is happening and that people are still continuing to turn a blind eye to this! I'm leaning on the verse "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose" - Romans 8:28. Maybe this is what our country needs to awaken it. I know it's woken up a fire in me and a passion in me that I didn't know I had.

I agree this hasn't gotten the hyper-coverage of, say, the Amanda Knox or Jodi Arias trials ... and that is worth questioning. It is, however, untrue that the national media is ignoring this. There was quite a bit of media coverage by the NY Times and other major national news organizations back in 2011 when this case came to light and I've seen stories featuring the grisly, horrifying details on both the NY Times and CNN websites again this March when the case first went to trial. It seems America just didn't care to take notice or discuss it in social media. :( I think it's more a case of all of us being apathetic than the media trying to cover it up. Finally, people are starting to pay attention. This is a good example of why it's important to stay up on national news yourself ... and not to just rely on your Facebook friends to post when something noteworthy happens. It just recently has been gaining fire on social media ... but the story has been out on national news sites for quite awhile. Still, they could have done more to force it in our faces. - Beth

Great post! It is so important to give a voice to the victims. The babies were victims. The women were victims. The pictures prove life. I am a teacher and have had a student who was born at 23 weeks gestation. Such a doll! As Christians we have an obligation to give hope to the hopeless and who is more hopeless than a baby with an appointment to die?

I am involved with a ministry known as Sanctity of Life. Check it out @ slmgetinvolved.org

God Bless!

I am so glad that you posted about this. It's such an important issue and it disgusts me that the main stream media wants to pretend that it isn't happening. My sister lost one of her twin boys four years ago when they were born at 28 weeks. Since then she has dedicated her life to bringing comfort to other moms of angel babies by sewing bereavement diapers for the babies to be buried in (teenytears.blogspot.com). It astounds me that there are people who literally throw away such a precious gift when others have to go home with empty arms.

I agree, Beth. I have seen lots of coverage about this horror. I think it just matters where you look. Too many people these days get all their news from People magazine or E! There is a whole world out there that we turn our backs on every day. Starving children, genocide, tyrants. I think it is US who choose not to look so as not to disturb our own little world. The media is not blame. We are the ones who choose what we read or see.

Mandy said...

I think the point I'm trying to make here is that it is not in mainstream media- cnn, nbc, or the New York Times- or any of their home pages. It's been well documented that it's received little coverage on mainstream media until this week- which is where it needs to be the most. :)

I'm pro choice. Sorry to say that, but I would rather know if my daughter or a friend got an abortion it was done in a manner of which they wont die. However, I do think abortion is wrong, and it should only be used in certain cases( mom and baby could die (this would be a very rare case)). I went ahead and shared this on Facebook, then attacked some news agencies on Facebook, and then contacted the mother of all criminal badgering - Nancy Grace. I think this is much more important than some girl from Arizona as these babies don't have a chance to defend themselves, and its disgusting that a mother would do this intentionally to their child. (Yes, I would be highly disappointed in my daughter and friends if they did this..by the way, one of my friends talked to me about getting an abortion in high school. I told her not to do it, because its part of her even if her boyfriend is a jerk. Guess what, that little boy is still alive and kickin!)However, the prochoice part of me think abortion law needs a huge over haul and these women need to be educated before they do it. Scare tactics please and redirected towards a more suitable venue...like adoption agencies. I would have taken all those babies.

First of all, I truly love your blog! I feel like I relate a lot (as a Jesus loving homeschooling mother of 4 and fitness instructor :)! Thanks for sharing your heart and life with us. I wanted you to know that my husband and I have a awesome friend (and founder of a flourishing production company) who did a documentary on this issue. He was interviewed by Anderson Cooper last week on CNN regarding it. Here is the link to check it out. www.3801lancaster.com

Carol, thank you for writing your views! You know, I think that the politicians and elites try to divide us on these issues to further their own agendas. It doesn't get much more pro-life than me but I think our beliefs align for more than the talking heads would like us to believe. I recently wrote an article on my blog about why I am pro-life and how that transfers into legislation. http://ordinaryhappilyeverafter.com/blog/2012/10/why-i-am-pro-life-a-non-religious-look-at-being-pro-life/

Thanks for helping to spread the word!

This whole story breaks my heart. I have trouble reading the articles about the trial because what happened (and is still happening across the US) breaks my heart. I did not expect that picture and I'm crying now. I have 5 children and know that those in the womb deserve protection too.
What can we do?

Tonia said...

Yes, it aired Friday night. I'm glad they took the initiative to speak out against this horrific ordeal (and abortion in general). So heartbreaking!

This breaks my heart. For the babies that have died and will die. For the Drs. and nurses that have done this. How callused are their hearts to do this and not feel any remorse is so so sad. If they don't repent and ask Jesus for forgiveness and be saved...to be separated from God for ever is just very upsetting to me. Sweet Jesus have Mercy on us all.

Thank you for sharing this, Mandy. I am a "new" Christian who came to God last summer. Prior to that, I was staunchly pro-choice, and had in fact had two abortions myself. The Lord has opened my eyes to the facts. I can tell you from experience that those who conduct abortions are not interested in talking about "choice." I was given very little facts, and had convinced myself of the "it's just tissue" myth. I know that had I been given the facts and an opportunity to hear my babies hearts and see them in a sonogram, I wouldn't have made the awful choices I made. I bought into the lies and I have only recently come to realize the gravity of my choices. I know I am forgiven, but my heart aches for those who just don't know. It's true - we are all so broken. Have you seen "October Baby?" That movie had me in tears.

Thanks for all of your honesty, Mandy.
