pregnancy update: 37 weeks, baby #5

I can't believe I'm full term this week! It's so exciting! It won't be long now- he'll be here! :)

I'm trying to really enjoy these last few weeks, and the 12 hour challenge has been good for getting more done and keeping my mind less distracted and more present for the kids- most of the time.

Sometimes though, honestly, I find it's much easier for me to chill with a laptop in front of me than it is to read a book or make a list. :) That's why this challenge is hard but a good exercise to see how tied to it I really am.

By the way, I'm totally cheating right now and  combining my two check-ins today to blog since I slept late this morning! :) I think the hubs would approve though- a well-rested mama is a much happier one anyway...internet or not. hahah! :)

We've got a few fun things planned for this weekend, including extra sleep, swimming, and a special trip to the bookstore. I'm thinking I might take the kiddos on a mommy-date too when Rob is busy.... :)

One thing is for sure- this week has brought the biggest change in my belly- I think he must have dropped because I'm suddenly carrying around a huge oval! :)

19, 22, 26, 31, 34 weeks:

and 36 and 37 weeks- WOW:

He looks much lower, wouldn't you say?

I can't believe it's really happening. :) It's almost BABY time! wohooo!

How many weeks were you when you went into labor?

Anyone have their 5th early? {please say yes....}

Favorite items for the managing actual labor? Do I need a birthing ball? Heating pad? I've never gotten to bring anything to the hospital!

My 1st was right on time. My water broke the day before my due date, he wasn't born until the morning AFTER his due date though. ;) My 2nd was 5 days late, and #3 surprised us by being 3 days early! He just came on Tuesday and we are so in love!

Excite for you! Just had my 4th and she came at 36 weeks and 6 days! You just never know! And my water broke on it's own which never happened with the others. Praying for you and your little guy :)

Yeah, you're lower! Don't go TOO far from home, okay? :)

Yes much lower...and at the risk of sounding rude(but not meaning it to), your cheeks even look less puffy? Sure signs you are ready to have a baby soon!

Very exciting - Prayers. Mine was early due to a kidney issue for which I went every two weeks for a sonogram. The fun part was going on a Monday and knowing the weight and then being admitted the next morning and 14 hours later out little guy had gained 2 ounces. I believe has they not needed to look at our sons kidney I would have been over due by a few weeks. Congratulations to your family.

I only have two kiddos my first was 4 days early and my second came on his due date.. I found that a exercise ball helped to sit on until I reached 6-7 cm dilated .. good luck and praying for a fast and easy delivery !!

Mine were born at 38 weeks and 36+5. :) Relaxing music (maybe worship) would be good I'm sure. (I haven't actually gone through a vaginal delivery myself, BUT I have gone into labor before my c-sections so I've experienced contractions, water breaking and starting to open.)

Oh and yes you're finally getting some belly there. ;) I'm sure you'll bounce back great as usual but if you're interested I'd be glad to give you some examples of exercises that are good to start rebuilding transverse core strength and properly heal any stretching of the linea alba. Just let me know. :)

(BTW remember Frida I showed you a picture of on fb - I read on her blog her baby boy was born yesterday 10 days before the due date. Apparently she left work at 11.20 am, stopped by her home and got to the hospital at 11.53 am. He was born at 12.53 pm. Shall we hope for something equally quick and smooth for you? ;))

I used the birthing ball with my last up until I got in the tub at 10 cm. Nice to have that option!

Yay!! You look fabulous! All my three babies have been late - 4 days, 6 days, then 7 days, respectively. I'm due in November with #4, and I'm already counting on her being a week late :)

My hospital had those things on hand, but they were not offered. You had to ask for them.

Oooo...SOOOOO exciting!!!! So, my first was 5 days early, my second one day late, the third was 4 days late and the fourth (who I was the most in shape with and exercised all the time with...) was the FULL 2 weeks late :( I know, I'm sorry to have to say that...HOWEVER, since she was my last, I actually look back on that as such a blessing since I truly did love being preggo and, even being overdue, didn't have any real issues (peeing constantly, back aching, etc...)...

I know God will lead you through and you will keep your eyes on that beautiful "prize" coming...cannot wait to hear of babys arrival!!!!!!!

Yup.....#1-4 were all within a week of their due dates. #5 was during her 38th week....and she was the only one where my water broke at home, I might add!!!

You look lower for sure! I have a feeling you are going early! I am praying for a smooth delivery for you. My first was a day before his due date and my second came five days early. I'm hoping I will always go early with future pregnancies too!! You look great! Enjoy these last days of your pregnancy!

"Weeping may tarry for the night but joy comes with the morning." Ps. 30:5 That was a verse I kept in mind during my last labor, as well as any songs that kept my mind fixed (Guide me O thou great Jehovah, by Indelible Grace, Whom shall I fear, by Chris Tomlin) on the right things. I gave birth to our 5th child last September. She was 1 week early!! It is possible, but I was a walking 5 cm and I think membrane stripping helped, if you and your dr so choose.:) Desperate: The Lord has finally brought me to that point with these 5 sweet little ones, where nothing will satisfy or bring rest other than God Himself. Glory to Him for revealing pride in my heart and His long-suffering with us during this faith-race! I want more of Him, and my heart rings with yours, that when we seek His face, again and again and again, He is faithful. He makes Himself known. He is our everything. May His sweet mercy be upon you as you wait on Him and His little boy gift he has for you!

Definitely looking lower. My 5th baby was born 19 days early! She was still 7 pounds, 8 ounces (even at 3 weeks early!) so no health concerns at all and an early baby was a big treat. :-)

My #5 was 5 days 'late'... actually, my water broke 29 hrs before he was born! But... I tend to go later with all my babies :) I'm currently 32 weeks along with #6!! :D

Just had my fifth baby and he came 6 days before the estimated date. Of course we're all so different. He definitely dropped!

Ph you really look lower!! A birthing ball can help you, and a mattress (I used my kid's mattress because it's smaller than mine), with towels and a mattress pad, placed next to the tub, if you ever want to give birth on a dry place(you never know how it will be better, believe me!)or for just after birth, with a blanket for the baby and you... and maybe my advice comes too late and you're already in labor!

Whoa! It looks like you went over a hill and your stomach dropped! {I mean that with lots of love, not rudeness}

I can't believe how fast your pregnancy has gone by, though I'm sure you don't feel it has at times! Pretty soon your little bundle will be here! I pray you have an easy labor and delivery with minimal pain!

How exciting, you're almost there! I'm 37 weeks too and so excited to meet my little fellow. My husband will be toting a couple of tennis balls in an old sock or panty hose to use for massaging at the hospital. Depending on your liking for touch during labor, you might like that. Otherwise, I'm told that taking your own frozen sanitary pads covered in witch hazel or even plain water is super soothing post-birth.

Wow! He definitely looks a lot lower. Crazy how that happens.

you're almost there! and you look beautiful, hang in there :) i only have one little guy right now, but i was 39 weeks and 4 days when labor started. we had planned on a home birth with a midwife and the three things that helped me the most were:
-lavender oil (or lavender candles, helps keep the atmosphere calm)
-bach's rescue remedy
- TEN's machine (my mom has one that she uses to help with fibromyalgia pain. this thing helped soooo much with back labor!)

can't wait to see pics of your new little one when he comes :)

Sorry I can't help you feel better about early. Baby 5 was born 15 minutes late. 12:15 am the day after her due date. The first 2 were 3 weeks early, #3 was 4 days early and #4 was about a week early. The last 4 (I have 8 total) were all right on time or a couple of days late.

My favorite thing to bring to the hospital was food - just in case they didn't have anything for me to eat - or wouldn't let me. I know they don't like to feed you when you're in labor, but I've never gotten sick or had emergencies, so when I was having #7 we snuck food in and after they gave me my cup of ice chips my husband would fill the cup with water and get me a granola bar or something we'd brought. We were there about 6 hours before he was born and even though I'd eaten some cereal before leaving home, I was really hungry a couple of times and my blood sugar would drop. Can't deliver a baby well with low blood sugar!

You look great! You'll be holding him before you know it :)

i wish i could tell you i went early with my 5th, but infact went later each time. :(( 1 day, 8 days, 12 days, 14 days, and 12 days late. i had each of my babies in the water, so that is what i would tell you...get in the bath tub. :) no pain meds. just warm water. :) i took evening primrose oil from weeks 36 on...my labors were quick and to the point...4 hours were my longest, 2 my shortest...you look fabulous. can't wait to see your bundle...
