Women Living Well book study: Week 1 Assignment and Study Guide

It's finally time to begin our WLW book and Bible study! :D wohoo!

If you're just joining us, we are doing the very first week of our study of the book Women Living Well by Courtney Joseph! Your first reading assignment starts today- all you have to do is read the first 3 chapters of the book and then do the study guide below if you'd like.  I've listed a few passages of Scripture at the top of the guide if you want to do more in-depth studying of some of the verses she listed in the three chapters, and your weekly "home" work assignment is at the end of the study guide!

I've tried to design this 10-question guide to be helpful to you by taking some of Courtney's practical tips and asking you to think about ways you can apply them in your own life. My hope is that we can all grow in Christ together through putting her biblically-based wisdom into practice in our own homes! :)

I think it's going to be a great challenge, and it will be so exciting to see what good fruit comes out of walking with the King! :)

You can download and print the study guide with the link below, and we'll all meet back here next Wednesday, the 23rd to discuss our thoughts on these first chapters as well as discuss our answers to this week's study guide questions.

I'm planning on posting each WLW study post at 5 a.m. central time every Wednesday {Lord-willing}, and then our discussion will be ongoing in the comments on the post throughout the day and over the next week. You don't need to be here at a certain time by any means, just feel free to hop over whenever you can join in the discussion! You can also post your questions over on the Facebook wall if that's more your speed. :D

If you have any questions, just leave a comment below! :D I'm so excited to answer these study guide questions for myself this week! :D I can't wait to hear how your studying goes!

Hi!! Thanks for doing this study! I saw the book and immediately got excited for it, so I've read the first few chapters. Then I saw you are doing a study, and since I'm literally at home waiting for baby #3 to arrive (she's a week late so far), this is PERFECT for me. I can join in no matter how I look or feel!! Can't wait!

Thank you for doing this. It is an answer to prayer. I've already read through chapter 3 and I'm loving it. I'm already making changes and have had a daily quiet time for the past 3 days. This is something I'm very excited about as I have a four week old baby and a two year old at home. I can't wait to see the changes in my life and what God is going to do in the upcoming weeks as we read this together!

I'm so excited!! Is this printing weird for anyone else? I've tired it a couple times with the download and the Google doc, but the M's look strange and there are strange lines. Other stuff from my printer has been printing normally today! Any suggestions?? :) Thanks ladies

I have been looking for a bible study and came across yours. I immediately purchased the kindle edition and printed out the guide. Although, My children are all married & I'm a grandmother, I am also a newlyWed! I read the 1st 3 chapters yesterday and cried through every page. I have been lazy & lax in spending time in God's presence, so I literally felt like a sponge! Today was wonderful! I fasted & spent hours reading, praying, studying, worshipping! I'm so excited about this renewal in my soul!

I'm going on a weekend retreat with church starting tomorrow. It's few hour drive to our destination and I plan on reading the 3 chapters and doing the study guide during this weekend. I'm very thankful that God has directing me to this bible study. I've been a little lost these past few months. I've been recently diagnosed with a couple illnesses. My husband has been deployed since January and this year at times has felt very lonely. I know I need a stronger walk with God and I need to spend more time in His word. I'm praying over this bible study, all the ladies joining us and that I can hear God during this time on where I am falling short. Very excited!

I am looking forward to this online study! I have a new little one at home (we must have been due around the same time...my daughter came at 39-weeks on July 30th) and a 4.5 year old and find it hard to spend, quality, time in God's Word.

I know I am late starting this but I am going to try to get the book on my nook (when I find it) and get caught up by Wednesday. I so need to change my life.

Mandy, I came across your Facebook page and let me say THANK YOU!!! I have been looking for something like this and I just know God intervened to find you and all the great stuff here. I just got my book yesterday and I am sitting down to catch up with everyone. Can't wait to see where this leads me. Thanks for your work and inspiration for all of us!

Mandy,
Honestly, it has been refreshing to read the chapters and reflect on what I need to do personally to improve my walk with the King. We are also doing a parenting series in our Sunday School class and he keeps coming back to the fact that if we want to work getting to the heart of our children we have to get to our own hearts first. Is there a place where we are commenting about what we have learned on this blog or on Facebook? I checked both places, but I may have overlooked it.

whitney somers said...

Is there a time that we meet online to discuss the questions and the chapters?

Amanda said...

Mandy,

Thank you SO much for recommending this book and providing us with excellent study questions so we can reflect on our readings. Even though we are so little into the book yet, it has been really eye-opening as a young mom, wife, and follower of Christ. Looking forward to digging more into this wonderful book and to get closer to God!
