thrifty outfit: dressy bright peacoat steals

It feels like it's been forever since I've shared a thrifty outfit! I have to admit, this one isn't as much an outfit as a single thrifty item, but I still couldn't wait to tell you about it. :)

We've had some very cold days here in Texas, so I've been more than happy to be able to wear this bright GW/Old Navy peacoat lately:

scarf, American Eagle, old; boots, Frye birthday present {on clearance! :D}
My coats have always been hip-length or above, so I had no idea how much I would love a long coat.  After wearing this sweet little number a few times, I'm officially hooked on longer length coats. I can't believe the difference they make in warmth!  :D

I love the saturated color- I'm not sure I've ever owned such a bright coat, but it is so fun to wear! I found it at a Goodwill in Dallas the last time we went in October.

It fit a little better when I tried it on in October {it's a bit too big now}, but for $9.99, I'm okay with that. :D $5 would have been a steal, but it was Goodwill, not a garage sale, so you have to pay for convenience every now and then. ;)

Fuchsia {or is it magenta? what do you think?} peacoats for less than $10= still a win in my shopping book! :D

Ever owned a bright colored coat?
I usually go for black or gray, but I'm loving this one!

What does a coat go for at your thrift store?
We found a wool one for Rob I'll tell you about another time, and it was brand new for $7! I once got a brand new leather coat at GW for $5!!!

Best thrifty deal you've found lately? {I need details!! :D}

I love bright, and its so super cute with your hair! I used to have a kelly green pea coat, but it moved on long ago, wish i had kept it! Now i have a quality wool white one with big black buttons and i ussually wear a red scarf and hat with it. Colors are such fun, so glad you found something to make your wintery days less dreary!

I have one in navy and one in that same color!! Love the magenta on you. Sadly, I didn't get mine for $10. It was more like $40, but it was at Nordstrom online, which is a pretty good deal for a coat there!

I grew up having to wear hand me down and thrift store clothing, and lets just say I wasn't part of the "in crowd" because my things weren't "new" or the brand it should have been. But I have truly been praying that God would help me handle my finances better. And the revelation that I can buy thrift and not feel bad about it and no one has to know, unless it's just a really great deal and can't wait to share how cheap I was able to get it. So thank you for this post, I have priorities I need to change and people's opinions I need not worry about as long as I like it!

Love bright colors and love it on you. However, those of us who are a little more zoftig (pleasingly plump) tend to shy away from bright colors. Usually black, navy or gray, but currently have a cranberry-colored pea coat which I really like. Also, the Goodwills I have been around central TX try to sell their items at almost new prices.

Best thrifty deal I've found lately was from my own closet! haha :P refashioned a scarf I've owned for yeeears but have only put it on for maybe a couple times. I've posted about it here (http://daisiesbliss.blogspot.com/2013/12/scarf-refashion.html) if you're interested to see what it looks like :)
Happy almost-weekend!

I've got a really saturated teal knee-length peacoat that I LOVE...it looks so nice with almost everything. Got it for a great sale price too! Hope it never wears out!

My regular winter coat is bright blue. Not cheap. I paid for LL Bean for the warranty. Already on my 2nd as the first one the zipper broke. 3in1 winter coat. It gets cold here in Maine.

My other coat is a black pea cot I got at Goodwill for $10. I consider that a decent price for a used coat.

oh thank you, that's so encouraging Gina!! My story is so much like yours- it wasn't cool until I started seeing how much everything really costs, and the best part is like you say- no one even can tell! We just get to save money! :D Good luck- and please let me know what you find out there! I can't wait to hear about your finds!!

I just got some new black Franco Sarto dress shoes for $12 at a thrift store on FM 1960 here in NW Houston, Texas....While I love shopping at Talbots, I also like to scour clothing racks at thrift shops for my favorite brands. Even when I shop at Talbots or JJill, I still hit the sales racks....no full price unless I absolutely need it!

I got a cute light green safari style coat from LLBean for $59 3 years ago....no zippers...still in great condition. They have quality items for not much money.

I found a bright blue Old Navy coat at a thrift store last month. I absolutely love it! My other coats are neutral so this one is fun. I also love that it is sort-off a pea coat style, but it also has a hood.

Mandy I LOVE your coat! My daughter has a royal blue pea coat. I always have a brown or black coat - guess I like neutrals. Not to change the subject but may I ask what type & color blush you use - your pictures always look so nice!

You look so cute! I tend to stick to black, gray and brown, but I need to venture out into some non-neutrals. I love the color and it looks great on you. :)

The coat looks great on you! Did you love the ice or what?!? I'm in west Fort Worth. We were iced in for 5....FIVE days!
Last weekend the fam and I went thrift store hunting! We found some pretty good deals. Wish I could post a pic! I am 29 weeks pregnant and found 2 Halo sleep sacks for $2 each (that was at GW). Then at Thrift Town I found a pair of nearly brand new leather knee high boots...for $1!!!!!
